Mitchell College
437 Pequot Avenue New London, CT 06320-4498
Mitchell College has been an important part of the New London community since its founding in 1938—a well-regarded institution of higher education in a traditional New England setting.
Located in the heart of southern New England, at the mouth of the Thames River and Long Island Sound in an historic seafaring city, Mitchell captures the beauty of the region in its shoreline campus. Laid out across bluffs that slope gently to the water’s edge, it presents a picturesque balance of traditional and modern architecture, rolling lawns and wooded walkways, sandy beaches, towering shade trees, and indigenous landscaped gardens.
Yet, step beyond its tranquility and you are a mere five minute drive to Interstate 95 and within one to two hours of the cultural and entertainment hubs of the Northeast—New York, Boston, Providence, New Haven and Hartford. In addition, the attractions of Mystic and other points along the Connecticut/Rhode Island coast are one of the nation’s major recreation, entertainment and vacation areas.
The City of New London is truly a college town —home also to Connecticut College and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Art galleries, intriguing shops, and cozy coffee houses blend with fine restaurants, shopping malls, and other urban amenities. For Mitchell students it combines the best of all worlds—the friendliness and comfort of a small, coastal New England campus…and the accessibility and excitement of city life.
